Carney said lawmakers should act to protect consumers and stop using those currencies for illegal activities, Reuters reported.
The finance official did not call for a ban on digital currencies such as Betcuen, and acknowledged that the technology used in the financial field had several positive aspects, "but it requires legalization like other financial systems."
"Digital currencies are being treated as money, in a limited number of people and in a limited range, just in line with traditional currencies, and that means they fail," Carney said in London.
Earlier this year, Carney expressed his doubts about digital currencies to students at the School of Economics in Scotland.
He pointed out that digital currencies raise concerns about a number of dangerous practices such as money laundering, terrorism financing and tax evasion, as well as circumventing international censorship and sanctions.
The value of the digital currency of the digital home of about a thousand dollars in the beginning of 2017 to about $ 20 thousand, in mid-December last, and then dropped to $ 6,000 last month and only recovered after a limited extent. Finished 25 k
