    Information / Baghdad ...
Italian voters cast their ballots on Sunday in elections that could lead to political stalemate after an election campaign angered by the recessionary economy, rising unemployment and immigration.
"Opinion polls showed that parliamentary elections could branch out a suspended parliament composed of a coalition of center-right groups led by former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi," Sky News reported in a news item.
"The center-left ruling Democratic Party has failed to take advantage of an initial economic recovery after the worst recession since World War II and the party-led coalition may end up in third place," he said.
Italy, which is heavily indebted, is the third largest economy in the 19-member eurozone and despite investors' optimism ahead of the election, a prolonged political deadlock could renew the threat of market instability.
