The Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Haider al-Abadi on Sunday chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security.
During the meeting, a briefing was given on the preparations of the security committee responsible for securing the process of the upcoming parliamentary elections and discussing these preparations. A number of the committee's requirements were approved to secure the parliamentary elections in security.
During the meeting, measures were also taken to facilitate the granting of entry visas to investors and businessmen wishing to invest in Iraq after the security stability in the country and the high demand by investors in Iraq.
The Council continued the intelligence effort and ways to strengthen it with security plans to hunt down terrorist elements and cells.
The implementation of previous decisions was also followed up and a number of other topics on the agenda were discussed.
