US oil inventories jump 5.7 million barrels in a week
US crude oil inventories rose more-than-expected last week, while gasoline stocks fell and distillate stocks rose, the US Petroleum Institute said.
Crude Oil Inventories jumped 5.661 million barrels in the week ending March 2, while analysts' forecasts were for an increase of 2.72 million barrels, according to the latest weekly data from the Petroleum Institute.
Oil stocks at the Kashing futures delivery center in Oklahoma fell 790,000 barrels.
Petrol inventories fell 4.54 million barrels, while analysts in a Reuters poll forecast a 1.20 million barrel drop.
Distillate stocks, including diesel and heating oil, rose 1.49 million barrels, compared to expectations for a 1.2 million barrel decline.
US crude oil imports last week rose 803,000 bpd to 7.829 million bpd.
