ADNOC plans to build the world's largest refinery and chemical site
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) said the state-owned oil giant plans to build the world's largest integrated refinery and chemical site in Ruwais, UAE.
"Investments in downstream activities such as refining and chemicals will be the biggest future opportunity for ADNOC," said Sultan Al Jaber, speaking at the Sierra Walk conference in Houston. The company plans to triple its petrochemical production to 14.4 million tonnes per year by 2025, he said.
"By 2025, our goal is to transform Ruwais into the world's largest refining and chemicals site, doubling our refining capacity and triple our petrochemical production," said Al Jaber.
He added that the company also plans to offer unexplored areas of oil in the UAE in auctions in the near future.
