Google signed a partnership with the US Department of Defense to militarize artificial intelligence and automated learning techniques, thus controlling the fear of a world-like scenario like the movie "Terminator".

Google is secretly working with the Pentagon to help its fleet of 1,100 unmanned aerial vehicles monitor images, faces and behavioral patterns. The technology giant plans to develop artificial intelligence to analyze unmanned aerial photographs. The Intercept news agency reported Tuesday (March 6th) The ultimate goal of the partnership is to improve combat performance by automating (or automating) the decision-making process in locating and targeting fighters.

The partnership is part of Project Maven, which was launched on April 26, 2017, with the aim of using sophisticated algorithm-based technologies to counter the growing competition and competition.

According to the Pentagon memo, the goal of the project is to accelerate the process of using large data and automated learning together during combat situations and speed up the analysis of data collected. Former Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Wurke signed the initiative.

This is not the first time that Google has been working with the Pentagon. The former chief executive of Google's parent company, Alphabet, Eric Schmidt heads the Defense Innovation Advisory Council (DOD) under the Obama administration.

On the other hand, the project has angered some Google employees about sharing technology with the military, according to the site "Gizmodo", while others said that the project raises ethical questions about machine learning.

"The military use of automated learning naturally raises concerns, and we are discussing this important issue internally and with the other parties," a spokeswoman for Bloomberg told Reuters. "Google shares the high-level programming technologies TensorFlow API with the military for non-offensive uses only. .
