A US-$ 197 million military deal

The US State Department announced on Thursday a deal with Qatar for the sale of military equipment worth 197 million US dollars.
The US State Department said in a statement that Washington agreed to sell equipment to the Qatari Air Force, according to the agency "Reuters".
Washington has approved a $ 1.1 billion deal to support the US $ 1.1 billion F-15 fighter jet fighter aircraft manufactured by Boeing.
The Qatari-US relations have witnessed a great convergence in the recent period, where the two sides signed memorandums of understanding to strengthen dialogue and security cooperation and combating terrorism.
The relationship between the two countries stems from Qatar's al-Qa'id, the largest base of US forces in the Middle East.
Some 11,000 US military personnel, most of them from the Air Force, are stationed at the base, 30 km southwest of Doha.
