Iraq cuts its imports of petroleum products 25%
The Iraqi Oil Ministry confirmed that Iraq will reduce its imports of refined petroleum products by 25 percent, with the rehabilitation of crude oil refineries after the end of the war with the organization «Islamic State».
Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi said in a statement that Iraq was also producing more oil products through the processing of natural gas liquids, but without setting a time frame for reducing imports.
In recent months, the ministry has announced an increase in the capacity of the Kirkuk oil refinery and plans to rehabilitate parts of the Baiji refinery this year.
He added that the achievement of self-sufficiency in the production of liquid gas has had a significant impact in reducing the proportion of imports, by covering a large part of the consumption in some facilities, and compensation with liquid gas.
