Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi received on Tuesday the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Iraq, Jan Kubic.

"The oil minister met with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations in Iraq, Jan Kubic," the oil ministry said in a statement received by the "Economy News", noting that "the two sides stressed the need to strengthen joint cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations mission."

The statement said al-Luaibi praised "the efforts of the mission to support Iraq in various fields."

And presented, according to the statement, the achievements of the ministry in addition to its future plans to develop the oil and gas sector.

In his turn, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations, Jan Kubic, stressed the support of Iraq in all areas, pointing to the mission's expectation that Iraq takes its natural role in the political and economic map.

On the other hand, Al-Luaibi met with the British Ambassador in Baghdad, John Wilkes, and his accompanying delegation.

The minister said that the minister "received the British ambassador in Baghdad, John Wilkes, and the accompanying delegation, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas sector."

Al-Luaibi called for increasing the presence of British oil companies and their participation in investment in this sector as well as in the sectors of refineries and infrastructure, stressing the importance of strengthening the relationship and development in all fields, especially in the oil and gas industry.

The British ambassador in Baghdad, John Wilkes, stressed the desire of his country's companies to enhance joint cooperation with Iraq at all levels, especially in the oil and gas industry.
