Shahristani warns of targeting power stations

Shafaq News / Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs , Hussain al-Shahristani warned on Saturday, that the armed groups might target power plants and pipelines of energy carriers across the country, calling on the security forces to intensify their efforts to provide the necessary protection .

“There are targeted stations in the country including Qayyarah station in Nineveh as the people of Mosul desperately need them ," adding that "There is a pipeline of energy might be targeted as well ,” Shahristani said in a speech during the opening of the third unit at the Wasit thermal station , attended by "Shafaq News”.

Shahristani called on the security forces of the army and police to maintain the service installations, saying, it is for you and your children. "

It is worth mentioning that the advisers body in the Prime Ministry recommended the adoption of safe “corridors " and take the required measures to protect the transportation pipeline of crude oil and electrical energy towers , to prevent being targeted by armed groups .

Iraq relies mainly on oil for the management of the country's economic matters and living despite being an agricultural country in addition to its large tourist potentials, but these and other wealth are not being used and there is no initiative to revive them , according to observers .
