Qatar ranks 19 people and 8 entities on its first list of terrorism .. Who are they?
Al-Nour News / Agencies
The National Counter-Terrorism Committee of the Qatari Ministry of the Interior on Wednesday evening included 19 individuals and 8 entities, including the Yemeni Charity Association, and the organization of the Sinai Peninsula (Egypt) on its terrorist lists.
The list - published by the committee on its website - is the first terrorism list issued by Qatar - individually - under a decree issued by the Emir of the country, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, on combating terrorism in July 2017.
Qatar previously issued a list of violations under the same law on October 25, but as part of a collective action taken by all member states of the Counterterrorism Center, which includes several countries including the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The new list included 19 people, including 11 Qataris, two Saudis, four Egyptians and two Jordanians.
Among the most prominent figures included in the Qatari list, Abdulrahman Omair Rashid Al Nuaimi, listed previously a list of terrorism by the US Treasury and the provincial states of Qatar.
It also included 8 entities, among them the Yemeni Charity Association and the Al-Ihsan Charity Organization in Sinai (Egypt), in addition to 6 Qatari entities.
The charity, Ehsan Charitable Society, is located in the governorate of Hadramout, southeast of Yemen. It was established about 25 years ago with a license from the Yemeni government.
On July 12, 2017, Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding with the United States in key areas of counterterrorism, such as exchanging intelligence, combating terrorist financing and sharing expertise.
A week later, the Emir of Qatar issued a decree in the same month to amend some provisions of the anti-terrorism law.
Under the decree, "the system of two national lists of individuals and terrorist entities" was introduced.
