Newspaper reveals the secret of "cold reception" received by Ibn Salman in Congress NB-232624-636575624108232056

"The Washington Post" newspaper revealed the US pressure received by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Congress , and the letter addressed to him from the Foreign Relations Committee , on the war in Yemen .

"Saudi Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a cold welcome in Congress," the paper said, stressing that "the Foreign Relations Committee called on Bin Salman, whom the newspaper described as arrogant, to take strong corrective action in Yemen."

"Bin Salman can use some of the guidance from his country's most important ally," she said, noting that he "adopted reforms that she described as promising, but on the other hand, he continued with unwise and aggressive adventures and disastrous intervention in Yemen."

The newspaper pointed out that "the US Senate voted, on the same day of Ibn Salman's visit to Congress, a draft resolution to stop the United States support for Saudi Arabia in the war in Yemen," noting that "the Saudi prince faced anger from Republican leaders and Democrats in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, And called on him to take measures to correct the course in Yemen. "

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told the newspaper itself that there were no good options in Yemen, and that trade-offs were bad options and worse. He added that his country had not missed any opportunity to improve the humanitarian conditions in Yemen.

The Washington Post cited human rights organizations and lawmakers who said Saudi air strikes had killed some 5,000 civilians in Yemen and said Congress should press for a serious commitment to peace negotiations in Yemen. Saudi exit from Yemen, this will improve the chances of reform in the Kingdom.

US Defense Secretary James Mattis said during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that a political solution should be urgently found for the Yemen war and hoped the peace efforts led by the UN special envoy to Yemen would succeed.
