The commander of the US Marine Corps, General Robert Neller, confirmed that Washington's counter-insurgency strategy includes direct involvement in fighting in Syria and Iraq and helping other countries to do so.
He said in a videotape posted on the Pentagon's website that his country does not have the means and can not fight against it all across the region, so its strategy includes forging alliances with other countries to combat terrorism effectively.
He noted that the United States is currently working with France, Britain and Italy to strengthen the potential of Nigeria and other West African countries to address threats threatening.
He added that his country would eventually have to leave the area, and therefore sought to help countries there fight terrorist groups on their own.
Earlier, it was reported that the United States would allocate 60 million dollars for a staunch fight against the Sahara and the African Sahel
