[ltr]US law enforcement officers identified the woman who shot at YouTube's headquarters in California, wounding three people with gunshot wounds, US media reported.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Los Angeles Times reported that the perpetrator of the attack, who committed suicide shortly after the shooting, was named Naseem Al-Qadim.[/ltr]
[ltr]Investigators believe a 30-year-old woman approached a courtyard and outdoor dining area around lunchtime and started shooting before entering the building.[/ltr]
[ltr]US police are investigating the motives for the attack. Preliminary indications say the reason may have been related to videos on a Web site that the attack apparently failed to promote, and YouTube was accused of blocking.[/ltr]
[ltr]The site's social networking platforms were closed late on Tuesday.[/ltr]
[ltr]A government security official told Reuters the shooting had nothing to do with terrorism.[/ltr]
[ltr]The shooting took place at the YouTube headquarters in Silicon Valley, near San Francisco, where the company offers video viewing and uploading services owned by Google of the Alphabit Group.[/ltr]
[ltr]The United States has frequent shootings, but the shooter is rarely a woman.[/ltr]
[ltr]Todd Sherman, a production director at YouTube, said he heard people rushing, initially thought it was an earthquake, and then told him someone had a weapon.[/ltr]
[ltr]US President Donald Trump on Twitter said he was briefed on the shooting.[/ltr]
[ltr]It was the latest in a series of arms attacks in the United States in recent years, the latest of which was the 17-person massacre at a school in Florida that led to calls for tougher restrictions on carrying weapons.[/ltr]
