Trump vows strong action on immigration
US President Donald Trump said his administration would "take strong action" on immigration on Wednesday, a day after he announced his intention to deploy the army to protect the southern border with Mexico.
Trump continued his criticism of US border security measures in a tweet, urging Congress to enact tougher laws.
"Our border laws are very weak but very strong in Mexico and Canada," Trump said. Congress must change these laws, which are linked to the Obama era and other laws now. We will take strong action today. "
White House representatives have yet to respond to a question about Trump's planned action.
The president told reporters on Tuesday he wanted to deploy military forces until the promised border fence was built. The White House later said the strategy included using the National Guard.

The Pentagon confirmed Wednesday that it was looking into ways to bolster the Homeland Security Department to secure the border.
Senior officials at Trump said the Department of Homeland Security was preparing legislation to speed up the process of deporting some illegal immigrants
