[ltr]NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Friday that the Washington-led international coalition would remain in Syria as long as it needed its mission to destroy the entire militant organization.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The alliance will be there as far as it is necessary to be convinced of the total destruction of a sympathetic organization," he said, adding that "NATO forces are not present in Syria on the ground," but NATO is part of the international coalition against Da'ash.[/ltr]
[ltr]"This is of course a sovereign decision of the United States, how long will its troops in Syria, but the general approach in the international coalition is to stay there now."[/ltr]
[ltr]According to the press service of the alliance on Stoltenberg, there are still "foci" for the organization of an advocate in Iraq and Syria.[/ltr]
[ltr]Earlier this week, NBC television quoted a US administration source as saying that President Donald Trump had held a meeting on national security in which he decided to "keep the US military in Syria indefinitely for the purpose of destroying and defeating an oppressive organization."[/ltr]
[ltr]According to unofficial data, up to 2,000 US troops can stay in Syria indefinitely[/ltr]
