    [ltr]Washington and London have begun practical steps towards a decision to launch a military strike against the Syrian regime against a suspected chemical attack that killed dozens in the town of Douma, east of Damascus, at a time when UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned of the situation.[/ltr]
    [ltr]US media reported that Trump's national security team would meet Thursday to decide on Syria.[/ltr]
    [ltr]US President Donald Trump held an unannounced meeting with Defense Secretary Jim Matisse at the White House.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Matisse confirmed the Pentagon's readiness to offer options on air strikes on Syria.[/ltr]
    [ltr]In response to Russian comments to drop any missiles fired at Syria, the US president said that the Russians had to prepare because the missiles were coming and they were smart.[/ltr]
    [ltr]A White House spokeswoman later said all options were still on the table and Trump had not set a timetable yet.[/ltr]
    [ltr]It is reported that a US reconnaissance plane was spotted above the Mediterranean off Syria, pointing out that it is a "Boeing P-8 Poseidon", indicating that America has begun to prepare to "carry out its promise."[/ltr]
    [ltr]The aircraft is capable of carrying out anti-submarine and surface warfare missions, along with its ability to monitor submarines, according to reports.[/ltr]
    [ltr]According to the attached map, the plane appears after arriving above the Mediterranean off Syria, after it was launched from the province of Syracuse, in the southeast of the Italian island of Sicily.[/ltr]

    [ltr]The British prime minister called on her government for an emergency meeting on Thursday to discuss London's response to the alleged chemical attack in Syria, a spokeswoman for the prime minister said.[/ltr]
