Germany refrained from participating in the strikes of the coalition against Syria and why?

Germany did not participate in the strikes of the Western coalition in Syria on 14 April 2018.
The United States, Britain and France have confirmed their readiness to launch a military strike on Syria to launch an alleged chemical attack in Duma, rural Damascus. As for Germany, its leader, Angela Merkel, has been able to take part in the upcoming military strike.
