Basra Governorate Council confirmed that the remaining part of the port of Khor Abdullah is not suitable for navigation, noting that Kuwait has tightened the noose on the ports of Umm Qasr and Zubayr.

"The division of the port of Khawr Abdullah between Iraq and Kuwait is unfair demarcation and was carried out with the approval of the former regime," provincial council member Ahmad Abdulhussain told a news briefing.

He added that "the remaining part of the port of Iraq is not suitable for navigation because it is dead." Noting that "the parts captured by Kuwait could have returned billions of dollars to Iraq."

He explained that "Kuwait has tightened the grip on the ports of Umm Qasr and Zubayr and severely affected the Iraqi ports."
