The central government in Baghdad, said that talks are continuing with the Kurdistan region on technical issues, denying consideration of the return of the Peshmerga forces to the disputed areas.

The spokesman for the Information Office of the Council of Ministers Saad al-Hadithi in a press statement: "The talks between the federal government and the Kurdistan region is continuing on the technical issues related to the oil file and the issue of border crossings, after the issue of airports was resolved."

"The recent news in some media about the existence of an agreement on the return of the Peshmerga forces to the disputed areas before the elections under the pretext of security oversight of the voting process is totally baseless," al-Hadithi said.

He stressed: "The talks with the region did not address this subject definitively, not from far or near," noting: "The Ministry of the company in Kurdistan has also denied these reports in toto."
