    The British Financial Times published a report on the meeting between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and a group of Russian parliamentarians in Damascus, one day after the American-British-French strike, warning that Moscow has placed itself in a dangerous position because of its support Hard for the lion. 

    "The Russians themselves are the protectors of Syria's sovereignty and fighters in the face of Western plans to change the regime and divide the country," the newspaper quoted a European diplomat as saying. "The Russians warn that they risk becoming partners of Assad and outlaws. Like the international ones.     The newspaper warned that Moscow's position appeared to be a prelude to putting Russia at great risk on both the economic and political levels as the United Statesannounced its readiness to impose new sanctions against Russia for its support of Syria and its pledge not to withdraw its troops from the country before achieving its goals.

    The newspaper said that Russian experts consider that Moscow and Washington entered the most serious crisis since the Cuban missile crisis in 1962, despite avoiding a direct military confrontation in Syria last weekend, the carrier of Andrei Kurtonov, director general of the Russian Council for International Affairs, : "The issue is about boldness, and the party of the strongest will." 

    Moscow observers believe that Putin will continue to support Assad, a European diplomat said: "He has been deeply involved in the matter and is now hostage to Assad." 

    In this context, the paper explained that Putin's Syrian plan included a rapid transition from armed conflict to economic rehabilitation and reconstruction, indicating that Moscow still believes that it is able, along with Iran and Turkey, to impose a political transition, despite the failure of three previous initiatives to negotiate.

    "This is the only reasonable option given that the US-led coalition is determined to break up the country," the newspaper quoted a former Russian ambassador taking part in talks with Syrian opposition groups as saying.
