    BAGHDAD / A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Abdul Karim Abtan, said on Saturday that the total amount spent by the government on the Ministry of Electricity since 2003 until 2018 is 50 billion dollars, indicating that this amount is enough to export electricity out of Iraq.
    "The total amount of money spent by the government on the Ministry of Electricity since 2003 until 2018 is 50 billion dollars," Abtan told Iraq News. "If this investment were invested properly, Iraq would have had enough electricity and exported it to neighboring countries."
    He added that "this file is one of the many files in the rest of the other ministries and waste in public money includes all ministries and was supposed to the Office of Financial Supervision and the Integrity and Public Prosecution opened these files for years to audit and bring all those involved."
    It is noteworthy that the Minister of Electricity Qassim Fahdawi announced from the Syrian capital Damascus at the end of last year, that Syria needs electricity to increase production and economic projects at a time when Iraq has a large surplus electricity may be reflected in the case of investment positively on both countries.
