China tightens restrictions on overseas investment

(Encyclopedia of this Day News | Iraq News ) - Direct: China has decided to give investors additional shares to invest in securities abroad in the first three years time, in a move that refers to the easing of restrictions on capital and to increase the openness of its financial sector.
The share of eligible domestic investment institutions rose to $ 98.33 billion from yesterday, compared with $ 89.99 billion previously, for the first time since March 2015, according to data released by the China Foreign Exchange Administration on Wednesday.
The Chinese move comes as part of several steps taken this month aimed at further economic openness.
In April, China's president pledged a new phase of economic opening-up across many sectors, from banks to the automobile industry, as well as tariff cuts.
China also decided at the end of last year to raise the cap of foreign equity ownership in insurance companies and domestic securities from 49% to 51%.
