Farmers from the provinces of Najaf and Karbala demonstrated to demand that imported vegetables should not be allowed to enter, threatening to cut off the link between the two provinces if their demands are not met.

The protestors gathered in a large vegetable market in Al-Haidariya area in Najaf to demand that the central and local governments prevent the introduction of imported vegetables that affected the sale of their agricultural products.

Farmers threatened to cut off the road between the two provinces if the two governments did not respond to them. "The timing of importing the imported vegetables coincides with the recovery of their crop of tomatoes, cucumbers and onions," he said.
