US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrives in Israel on Sunday as part of a regional tour of the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was due to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his office in Jerusalem, the Palestinian news agency Ma'an said, adding that the two sides would discuss US President Donald Trump's decision to cancel the nuclear deal with Iran in preparation for re-imposing sanctions on Tehran's nuclear program.
Pompeo arrived in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday, the first stop of his first foreign tour, from the Belgian capital Brussels, where he participated in a meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
The new minister said he planned to discuss during his tour the future of the nuclear deal with Iran, which was concluded in 2015.
A US State Department official said that Pompeo's visit comes just two days after he was sworn in to take office, and also aims to cement ties with important allies of the United States in the region.
It is noteworthy that the US Senate, had approved last Thursday, the appointment of former CIA Director Mike Pompeo, to be the 70th Secretary of State in the history of the United States.
