Oil prices rose on Tuesday, as geopolitical tensions over the prospect of US sanctions on Iran returned.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "Israel has evidence that Iran is working on a secret program to acquire a nuclear weapon," adding that his country provided Washington with the necessary data.

In the wake of this, the United States announced that it was studying information disclosed by "Netanyahu" on Iran's nuclear program.

By 0530 GMT, London Brent crude futures for July delivery rose 0.23 percent, or 17 cents, to $ 74.86 a barrel.

US crude futures for June delivery rose 0.26 percent, or 26 cents, to $ 68.75 a barrel.

Crude gains, despite the release of US energy information in its monthly report, said on Monday that US crude production jumped 260,000 bpd to 10.26 million bpd in February, its highest level ever.
