Basra provincial council on Wednesday threatened to take several measures in the event of failure to maintain its dues from the petrodollar, stressing that the budget of 2017 abolished all petrodollar dues without granting the oil producing provinces their previous dues.
A member of the Basra Provincial Council, Ahmed Abdul Hussein, said in a statement to "Information", "Law No. 21 provides for the granting of oil-producing provinces 5% of oil revenues, which has not been achieved to this day," noting that "the Iraqi government took advantage of a lot Good people of Basra and silent on their legitimate rights and went to grant the northern provinces in Kurdistan rights without concern for the provinces that provided them with this money.
He explained that "the budget of 2017 abolished all the petrodollars owed to the oil-producing provinces, and yet the provinces did not get their share and past dues," stressing that "Basra will not stand idly by and will have a position and actions towards the government to obtain their rights from the petrodollar and the government To warn the Halim if he is angry. "
Abdul-Hussein stressed the need for the oil-producing provinces to form a common room to take deterrent decisions in order to obtain their dues from the petrodollar, where the provinces can stop the production of oil as a deterrent to the government's actions and ignore the legitimate rights of the oil-producing provinces.
