Turkish Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari will visit Turkey Thursday to participate in the meeting of the joint economic commission between Iraq and Turkey, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Aksoi said.

"Jaafari will meet his Turkish counterpart Mouloud Zhaouchoglu and Economy Minister Nihad Zibekji," he said.

"We are watching the Iraqi elections closely and we hope that they will take place in a safe and stable environment," he said.

He expressed his welcome for Iraqi politicians to move away from "sectarian and discriminatory rhetoric".

He revealed that his country expects the next elected government in Iraq to represent all Iraqi voters and to show "a firm and unrelenting stance against the PKK and Fathullah Gulen."
