The British newspaper "Independent" raised several questions after the clarity of preliminary results in the Iraqi electoral scene, the mechanism of the parties that enjoy the support of Washington and Tehran and the possibility of collision of interests between the parties.
"The Iraqi elections support the US and Iran to different parties; to try to ensure that the next Iraqi government is leaning towards them, and Iraqis fear that their country becomes a field of conflict between America and Iran, where the bet for Iran, because the majority of the population of Iraq follow the Shiite doctrine" .
"Will you ask practical questions after the elections, such as: What is the future of about 10,000 troops and US military contractors in Iraq, whose presence has not become as necessary as before the defeat of a pro-American organization? In Iraq, which trades with Iran, Iran has all the incentives to do some of its trade through Baghdad, where America has to tread carefully so as not to alienate local allies. "
"The problem is that Trump may think that Iraq can be politically separated from Iran, but it will not happen, it seems, he thinks he will get regime change or surrender from Iran, through sanctions, but there is no reason to believe that will happen, Trump does not intend to wage war in the Middle East, but he can not get what he wants without war, and even after the war he may not. "
