An emergency source in the Russian republic of Udmurtia said Wednesday that the area of fire in the former military depot in the town of Bogatchevo has expanded to 300 hectares.
"According to the updated data, the fire area is about 300 hectares," the source said.
Earlier in the day, Russia's emergency ministry announced that more than 2,000 people had been evacuated from the town of Bogatchevo in the central Russian republic of Udmurtia because of a fire caused by a fire burning in a field near an arms depot.
It is worth mentioning that Bogatchevo, where the former military warehouse was located, witnessed in 2011 a major fire which led to the explosion of shells, killing one soldier and directing more than 100 people to hospital for medical assistance and the evacuation of more than 28 thousand people from the danger zone.
