The Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs has promised to work on the reconstruction and compensation of Yazidis after the massacres carried out by an organization advocating for them during their control of Shankal district and the surrounding areas.
During her meeting with Austrian Foreign Minister Karen Konsil, she discussed the situation of the Yazidis in the Middle East and promised to support and compensate the Yazidis, rebuild their affected areas, restore security to their areas and take all necessary measures, Murad said.
Murad said that "the province of Shankal remains now between the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, without any owner and must solve this problem," noting that "the Austrian Foreign Minister promised to resolve this problem and lift the siege on the Yazidis," she said.
The Goodwill Ambassador praised the role and follow-up of the United Nations in collecting all documents proving the crimes against the Yezidis and the arrest and trial of the accused.
