"Powell": The imposition of regulations part of the independence of the Central Bank

"While the focus is often on the independence of monetary policy, research suggests that a degree of autonomy in regulatory and financial stability makes the banking system stable," Jerome Powell said on the sidelines of the 350th anniversary of the creation of the Swedish central bank on Friday.
Powell's comments come a day after President Donald Trump signed a resolution on easing legal regulations on small banks in the United States.
A meeting of Fed monetary policy members is due to be held next June amid expectations of a sure increase in interest rates, according to the bank's record this week.
