Agriculture adopts complementary irrigation technology

The administrative agent of the ministry, Dr. Mehdi Sahr al-Jubouri, said that the ministry has prepared several agricultural programs to develop the agricultural sector despite the obstacles and major challenges facing them, the most important of which is the lack of financial allocations which constitute only 1.1% Allocated to ministries from the state budget for the current year, in addition to the scarcity of water and the entry of agricultural products during the abundance of local crops. Among the programs prepared by the Ministry is the National Wheat Development Program, which provides free agricultural inputs to farmers, such as fertilizer seeds, laser settling machines and other elements provided by the program to the farmers covered. In addition to the food promotion program, On supplementary irrigation technologies that will provide effective irrigation for an area estimated at five million acres over the next three to five years, which will cover the country's need for grain crops within the ration card items. Jubouri said that the ministry has also prepared a new program to develop barley, maize, cardamom and vegetable crops by providing seeds of the highest grades of these crops, distributed free of charge between farmers and farmers to adopt these genetically modified varieties and resistant to the weather conditions of the country, Will contribute to the development of these important crops and increase their production in a way that serves to meet the actual needs of the country. He pointed out that the ministry has also managed through these steps to fill more than 80 percent of the country's actual need for several crops and agricultural and animal products, including vegetable crops, chicken eggs and fish.
