King of Jordan assigns Al-Razzaz to form a "new government"
05/6/2018 12:00 am [rtl] Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah II on Monday rejected the resignation of Hani al-Mulqi's cabinet, while Education Minister Omar al-Razzaz was appointed to form the new government, the official said. Jordanian Prime Minister Hani al-Mulqi submitted his resignation yesterday afternoon to King Abdullah II during a meeting at the Husseiniya Palace in Amman against the backdrop of popular protests against the draft income tax law, informed sources said. She added that «the king before the resignation and commissioned the Minister of Education Omar Razzaz to form a new government». Protests have been taking place in Jordan since last Wednesday on the draft income tax law, especially in the vicinity of the prime minister's office in Amman and the various governorates of the Kingdom. Al-Mulqi was appointed in May 2016.
