The Minister of Transport, Kazem Al-Yamami, on Wednesday, provided the possible facilities to complete customs clearance procedures at the southern port of Umm Qasr.

"The Minister of Transport, Kazem Al-Hamami, has instructed to provide the necessary facilities to complete the customs clearance procedures at the southern port of Umm Qasr," the statement said.

"The process of developing the port of Umm Qasr in the north and the south is proceeding at an accelerated pace through an advanced work plan to develop and develop berths which will help to receive large numbers of cargo and cargo," Hammami said.

Al-Hamami pointed out that "coordination and cooperation between port and customs officials is of great importance to expedite the customs clearance of these goods from inside the port and deliver them to their owners after completing all legal procedures."

The General Authority of Customs, in the past, mobilized all its energies in its customs departments in the ports to facilitate the release of all the goods stored there, in order to prevent the loading of the merchants and importers additional amounts due to the delay, and the release of more than 5 thousand containers in the ports of Umm Qasr.

It is noteworthy that the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers issued earlier, several directives on the treatment of bottlenecks at the ports of Umm Qasr, including the Ports Authority to secure the ports and not allow the companies licensed customs clearance and customs employees working in the port and the owners of goods to enter the port.
