[ltr]King Salman bin Abdul Aziz called for a four-day meeting on Sunday in Mecca, which includes Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Jordan to discuss ways to get Jordan out of its economic crisis.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Saudi royal court issued a statement on Saturday saying that King Salman bin Abdul Aziz held talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II, Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.[/ltr]
[ltr]The SAI said it was agreed to hold a meeting of the four countries in Mecca on Sunday, June 10, to discuss ways to support Jordan to get out of the economic crisis experienced by it, according to the Saudi Press Agency "SPA".[/ltr]
[ltr]The protests began in a number of Jordanian cities last Thursday, following the government's announcement to raise fuel prices and its refusal to withdraw the income tax law.[/ltr]
[ltr]The protests resulted in the resignation of the government of Hani al-Mulqi, and the appointment of Minister of Education Omar al-Razzaz to form a new government.[/ltr]
[ltr]The protesters demanded a change in policies and not faces, and economic reforms to prevent "resorting to the pocket of the citizen and raising prices."[/ltr]
