    The Chairman of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, Chairman of the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, Jaafar al-Hamdani, stressed that the decision to impose high customs duties on consumer goods will lead to raising prices in the local market, calling for reconsideration of these fees and decisions that caused many problems for traders.
    In a speech at a special conference organized by the National Gathering of Iraqi Traders with the participation of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, Al-Hamdani said, "The problems of traders at border crossings, customs and imports. Consumer goods under the pretext of protecting the national product and some fees to 50%, which will contribute to raise prices in the domestic market with the start of the new school year.
    Al-Hamdani said that "with any decision protects the industry and the local product, but we note that the plants do not cover 10% of the need of the market and the imposition of fees on frozen chickens will strain the budget of the Iraqi family," calling for "privatization of border crossings to provide the best services for the importer and the Iraqi trader, The situation of border crossings miserable since the seventies of the last century. "
    In conclusion, Al-Hamdani called on the government to "reconsider the decision to increase customs duties on consumer goods because it does not serve the interest of the people." He pointed out that the conference will prepare a working paper signed by 1,000 merchants for the purpose of submitting them to the Council of Ministers for discussion and discussion.
