The supreme religious authority Ali al-Sistani called on Wednesday to investigate the crescent of Shawwal on Thursday, while noting that the information available on the size of the crescent indicates that it is difficult to see him with the naked eye.
The reference in a statement that "the faithful supervisors in Iraq and neighboring countries, investigate the crescent of the month of Shawwal Almkram in 1439 after the sunset from Thursday, the 29th of the current Ramadan."
He added that "those who are absolutely sure to see the moon this night to testify at the office directly or with some agents and accredited in the country," noting that "the information available on the size of the crescent and its height from the horizon on Thursday evening indicates that It is very difficult to see him with the naked eye in Iraq and the surrounding areas on this night, although he will see the next night high and will remain on the horizon for a long time. "
The Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday called on Muslim citizens and residents to investigate the crescent of Shawwal on Thursday evening.
