    Shafaq News / The Yemeni Army Media Center announced Saturday the liberation of Hodeidah International Airport.
    He said that the army forces supported by the resistance and the coalition to support the legitimacy in Yemen, freed Hodeidah International Airport from the grip of the Houthi militias.
    He added that the engineering teams are clearing the airport and its surroundings of mines and explosive devices.
    The liberation came after Yemeni forces took control of the entrance to the airport on Friday evening, making it under the fire control of the joint Yemeni resistance forces with the support and participation of the coalition forces supporting the legitimacy in Yemen, while the elements of Houthi militias were trapped inside the walls of the airport.
    The battle of Hodeidah began on June 13 with the aim of liberating the province, which is under the control of the Huthi militias.
    The importance of airport strategy
    The control of Hodeidah Airport, south of the city, is strategically important. It is less than 10 kilometers from its strategic harbor, the second largest port of Yemen, and the only remaining artery in the hands of militias to smuggle Iranian weapons, prolong the war with substantial revenues, , And the threat of international navigation.
    Next to Hodeidah Airport, one of Yemen's most important airports, there is a military air base where several air defense brigades were stationed, before the Houthis turned them into camps for their militias.
    According to military experts, in parallel with the progress of the other axes, the target of the "Kilo 16" road, the link between Hodeidah and the capital Sana'a, will be cut off and the supply of militias will be cut off from this vital road. The military operation by extracting the most important and last force leaf on which the Houthi coup was based.
