    Ten days only is the remaining period of the current parliament, which is scheduled to expire on the thirtieth of this month, to receive the legislative power of the new parliament, the oldest member, according to Article 54 of the Constitution. 

    Al-Arabi newspaper quoted a source in the Electoral Commission, saying that "the head of the new parliament is the only winner of the democratic coalition in Baghdad, Mohammed Ali Zinni," explaining that "Zinni, born in 1939, will preside the first session of the elected parliament as the largest members Senna ".
    He added that "the task of Zinni will end when the election of a permanent president of the new parliament and two deputies," pointing out that "the constitution stipulated that the process of electing the speaker of parliament and his deputies in the first meeting." 

    "After that, Mohammed Ali Zinni leaves the platform of the presidency of parliament and returns to exercise his duties as a member of the House of Representatives." 

    For his part, MP Mohammad Ali Zinni said that "he will exercise his task to run the first session of parliament in accordance with the constitutional contexts followed," explaining that "will work in a youthful spirit, and refuses to take any executive position, even if this position is the Ministry of Oil near his competence." 

    "He will run the first session of the new parliament to choose the speaker of parliament and his deputies," he said, adding that "in the autumn of life and does not have any personal ambitions, and that he will do what dictates his conscience."

    Zini revealed his intention to form an opposition bloc within the new parliament, including a number of young deputies to assess the work of Parliament and the government, noting that "he met with young people and discussed with them the idea of ​​the opposition." 

    Mohammed Ali Zinni, 79, who was born in the province of Najaf , was nominated for the Baghdad governorate in an election campaign described as strange, to get the only seat of the democratic civil coalition in the Iraqi capital. 

    Zinni did not comment on anything, and his election campaign was not presented in the media. Rather, he adopted his campaign to distribute his academic and scientific career to cafes and cultural clubs with a small paper that was popular among his fans who gave him the highest votes on his list.

    Zinni received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Birmingham in 1969, before obtaining a bachelor's degree in law from Mustansiriya University in 1974 and then joined a fellowship to obtain his doctorate in oil. He received a doctorate in oil mines from the University of Colorado, 1980. 

    In 1983, Zinni chose the opposition route and left Iraq with his family to the United States and took executive and advisory positions in the field of oil there.
