(Reuters) - Gold prices hit a six-month low on Thursday, weighed down by a strong dollar and with the Federal Reserve keeping its expectations for higher interest rates.
By 0637 GMT the spot price of gold was down 0.4 percent to $ 1262.88 an ounce.
The metal hit its lowest price since Dec. 20 at $ 1261.36 earlier, having lost 3 percent over the last 5 sessions.
US gold futures were down 0.8 percent at $ 1264.50 an ounce.
The dollar kept its position near an 11-month high versus a basket of currencies supported by US interest rates, while the pound hit its lowest level since November 2017, ahead of the Bank of England's monetary policy decision.
Silver fell 0.5 percent to $ 16.18 an ounce, after touching earlier lows since early May at $ 16.16.
Palladium fell 0.3 percent to $ 961.47 an ounce, and the metal hit $ 959 earlier in the session, its lowest price since May 4.
Platinum fell 0.9 percent to $ 857.49 an ounce, touching $ 854.50, its lowest level since February 3, 2016, earlier in the session.
