A new military plan developed to protect the road in cooperation with US forces

After the failure of Iraqi security forces to secure the road to Baghdad and Kirkuk, and repeated kidnappings of citizens and attack nearby villages, US forces entered the line in coordination with Iraqi parties to protect the road.

A security source in Kirkuk said: "A new military plan was developed to protect the road in cooperation with US forces."

"A recent meeting between the coalition forces and the Peshmerga and the federal forces to put an end to armed attacks in the areas south of Kirkuk," the source said, without revealing his identity.

He added that the latest move came in the light of the recent meeting with the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Haider al-Abbadi and the leaders of the security and intelligence services, during which several measures and orders were taken to form special operations to protect citizens and secure routes from gangs of terrorism and crime.
