Israeli companies could lose billions of dollars if the European Union decided to exclude them from support for a scientific research and development program called "Innovation Europe," Israel Hume newspaper reported.
The budget of the program is one hundred billion dollars will be provided to tens of thousands of research and development projects and initiatives in the European Union and its surroundings from 2021 to 2027.
Prominent activists of Palestinian rights, to hundreds of EU members in the Belgian capital Brussels, sent a letter signed by more than 154 organizations and activist groups in 16 countries demanding that all security companies and Israeli security companies be exempted from financial support from the EU program.
The letter also included Israeli civilian research companies, "a corridor of European funds for Israeli companies operating in the military field through the implementation of civilian and military projects."
"Although the European Union claims that support funds go to projects with civilian applications, many of the projects approved have been dual-use and serve military interests," the letter said.
"The European Union cooperates with Israel in securing the border, which is contrary to the principles of the European Union itself," the statement said, calling for the immediate release of all security companies and Israeli security companies from the European support plan. Ending / 25
