Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on Thursday that production had started from the first well in the second phase of the Sea of Peace project in the country's largest offshore gas field.
The company said in a statement that the production of gas from ten wells by October, adding 400 million cubic feet of gas per day to total field production to 1100 million cubic feet per day.
The Bahr al-Salam field is located about 120 km north-west of Tripoli and contains more than 260 billion cubic meters of gas.
The field is managed by the oil and gas company Mlita, a joint venture between the National Oil Corporation and Italy's ENI.
