The Iraqi oil ministry said the situation in West Qurna / 2 has returned to stability, denying the evacuation of foreign staff.

"The demonstrators tried earlier in the day to storm one of the oil sites in the West Qurna / 2 field, and caused the burning of some of the buildings of the external gate and caravans and the burning of a police car and the destruction of some electrical devices and tampering with and damage them," Oil Minister Jabbar al-Allaibi said in a press interview today. In addition to the assault on some employees and members of the security forces, which managed to deal with the situation and take them out of the site and control the situation and secure it, "stressing the government's refusal and the ministry" to attack the oil installations and breach of public security. "

He called on the demonstrators "to respect the laws and protect public property and not be dragged behind some agendas that try to provoke chaos and strikes in the province." The minister of oil evacuated foreign staff in the field as promoted by some media, pointing to the continuation of production in the field.

The minister's comments on the evacuation of staff appeared to be different from those broadcast by activists on social media from video and video recordings showing the gathering of foreign workers after a call and a warning sounded and a number of them were transferred by helicopters to the port of Rumaila in the south.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Oil confirms the Ministry of Oil respect for the freedom of expression and peaceful demonstration, "but categorically rejects the attack on oil installations, which is the main economic source of the country and consider that prejudice to national security and economic," noting that "the attack on the national economy presents itself Legal accountability ".

The Iraqi government and the oil ministry appealed to all parties to cooperate to provide a safe environment for investment and not to do acts that harm the public interest of the country.
