Washington is filing a WTO complaint against retaliatory tariffs for states

(Encyclopedia of this Day News | Iraq News ) - Live: The United States filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization towards responding States to conduct retaliation for Washington 's tariffs against imports of steel and aluminum.

The Commerce Department said in a statement on Monday that it was filing a complaint against China, the European Union, Canada, Mexico and Turkey at the World Trade Organization.

The above-mentioned countries have announced the imposition of retaliatory tariffs against the United States after Washington's charges for imports of steel and aluminum by about 25% and 10%, respectively.

US trade representative Robert Laithizer said the tariffs imposed by Washington were justified by international agreements between the United States and its trading partners, while reprisals from those countries were inconsistent with international norms.

"The actions taken by US President Donald Trump are legitimate and fully justified in terms of US law and international trade rules," he said, adding that they have imposed illegal retaliatory tariffs instead of working to address a common problem.

"These reprisals against Washington seem to violate the obligations of each WTO member.

China today announced a complaint against the United States to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for Washington's commercial threats.

Last week, Washington announced it was considering imposing additional tariffs on Chinese goods worth $ 200 billion.
