Russia's investment in US Treasuries fell to an 11-year low in May, as Saudi Arabia approached the list of the top 10 countries.
The latest US Treasury Department report showed that Russia's foreign debt investment fell to $ 14.9 billion in May, the lowest level since 2007.
Russian investments in these bonds reached their highest level in October 2010, when they recorded 176.3 billion dollars, but Moscow began to reduce these investments with strained relations with Washington against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis, and the United States imposed sanctions against Russia.
On the other hand, Russian Central Bank President Elvira Nabielina said the bank is pursuing a policy aimed at diversifying international reserves, taking into account all risks, including financial, economic and geopolitical.
Saudi Arabia increased its holdings of US sovereign bonds during the same month by $ 2.2 billion to $ 162.1 billion. The kingdom now has a slight difference from Taiwan, which ranked 10th, with investments totaling $ 164.8 billion.
Saudi Arabia has raised US $ 18.5 billion in US sovereign bonds since the beginning of this year, and if it continues at the same pace, it will advance to Taiwan and enter the list of top 10 US Treasury bills.
According to the report, China topped the list of the world's most heavily indebted nations with a total of $ 1,183.1 billion, while Japan came second with $ 1,048.8 billion. Ending / 25
