The head of Egypt's Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabia, announced the collision of five ships in the southern sector of the Canal last Sunday, denying the loss of life or the impact of traffic.
He described the spring incident, Wednesday, in a press statement, as "transit", said that international navigation in the channel "stable."
He added that the affected vessels were towed to the waiting area south of Ismailia, without specifying the extent of damage.
He also stressed that the Suez Canal, "is the safest course among shipping routes." End 25 n
