BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The General Company of Railways announced on Sunday the transfer of (2016) containers with its specialized trucks from the port of Umm Qasr to the customs of Chaljia in the capital Baghdad.
"The General Company of Iraqi Railways has been able to transport (2016) container with its specialized trucks from the port of Umm Qasr to the Mark Shalalj in Baghdad during the past six months," said General Manager Salam Jabor Saloum in a statement received by Iraq News.
"The work came in light of the directives of the Minister of Transport Kazem Vajan al-Yamami to redouble efforts to increase the volume of transport capacity and achieve revenues to maximize the financial resources of the company in order to be the rail of the winning companies and not the loser."
He added that "the wages of transport by rail compared to the private sector, especially that the rail national carrier and all the advantages of safe transportation because it is a long-established institutions that have a long history of transporting goods and passengers to own fleets of specialized transport trucks of all kinds."
He stressed that "the company confirms its readiness to receive requests from traders and importers and government departments to transport their goods and containers through specialized rail trucks at competitive prices." Finished
