France: Adoption of a bill on asylum and migration

The French Parliament passed a bill on migration and asylum issues by a majority. The law was drafted under the guidance of French President Emmanuel Macaron.
And voted 100 deputies, in the parliament session in favor of passing the bill, in exchange for the rejection of 25 deputies.
The Republican Party Forward, founded by Macron, the Union of Independents and Democrats, supported opposition from leftist and rightist parties, Anatolia news agency reported.
French Interior Minister Gerard Coulomb said in a statement on Wednesday that the law would solve the problem of asylum in the country.
Colomb said the law would come into effect from early January 2019.
The new law provides for a reduction in the length of the application for asylum from 11 to 6 months and an extension of the administrative period for the deportation of rejected persons from 45 to 90 days.
The law also provides for a reduction in the period of time for refugees to apply for asylum to the Office for the Protection of French Refugees from 120 to 90 days and for appeals from the Office for 30 to 15 days.
According to the law, the period of detention of refugees without residence permits increased from 16 to 24 hours and the length of stay granted to refugees from one to four years was increased.
